We would love to be able to offer support for everyone straight away, but we currently have a waiting list of about 3 months for our appointments.

Whilst you are waiting to hear from us, remember that there is a lot of information on our website that could help you. You can access videos and self help 24/7.

One of our experienced practitioners will review the information you have given us.

You may be contacted and asked to give more information about how you are feeling and the problems you have been having.

You will be contacted (dependant on your communication preferences) to advise you of the next steps.

You may be invited to attend one of our Resiliency Workshops. Most people find these very helpful and they may help you to cope with different situations.

Alternatively, you may be asked to speak or to meet with one of our clinicians, who will talk through your difficulties..

When you arrive for your appointment, you will be asked to complete some forms which are used to tell us the reasons you have been referred to CHUMS.  Please answer as honestly as you can.

At the end of your appointment, the clinician will speak to you and discuss if you are going to need further help from us.  If you are continuing with individual support, you will be given the times and dates of your next sessions.

If you are going to receive group support, you will be given the dates and locations of the next available sessions.

The information you give us in the assessment will be kept private within the Service.  We will only share your information if;

  • You ask us to do so
  • We believe your life or the life of someone else is in danger
  • We believe that you or someone around you is a risk to others
